2014-05-26

The documentary „Ethnic Kitchen“ is moving from the filming site to the editing room. Work will be brewing here through the whole summer, and the viewers will be able to see the movie in September. The exact date of the premiere in Vilnius will be announced at the end of summer. However, a tour of „Ethnic Kitchen“ around Lithuania is being planned already.

The film will tour not less than 15 Lithuanian cities and towns during the coming autumn and winter. Your town can become a part of the tour, which is being composed right now. If you would like to see the film “Ethnic Kitchen” in your town, please let us know about it by email info@pasauliovirtuve.eu.
After each screening of the film, discussions with filmmakers, heroines, NGO representatives, and human rights experts will take place. The viewers will find out about the experiences of foreigners in our country, they will be invited to share their opinions.

While waiting for the movie to visit, we invite you to hear and see more about it. A few glimses into the filming process appear in cameraman Samvel Gandzumian’s film „The Kitchen of Ethnic Kitchen“.

Film director, Aiste Ptakauske, was interviewed about the project for the Ziniu radijas broadcast “Human to Human”. You can listen to the talk here.

Students from Vilnius University’s Institute of Journalism Adre Zakarauskaite and Karolis Pilypas Liutkevicius have made a thorough reportage about “Ethnic Kitchen”. Recommended to watch with a cup of tea, here.

Ethnic Kitchen is a documentary feature about five women who moved to Lithuania from different countries, at different times, and for different reasons. At first glance, the life stories of these women seem unbelievable, but a closer look reveals that it is something that could happen to any of us. Ethnic Kitchen is not just a movie, it’s an invitation to reflect on the things that make us feel like outsiders. It is a reminder and encouragement to extend a helping hand to those around us having trouble fitting in. The project is made possible by the European Economic Area Grants NGO Program Lithuania.
